Movie Review
Another movie that has been on my list to see for ages but there always seemed something better. Unfortunately when this happens once I finally see the film it tends to be a bit of a disappointment. That was the case with this one. I'm guessing that it might be better when I watch it for a second time. It is set in 1976 and covers the final day of school and the night after. No doubt it earned the R rating because of the amount of dope smoking and underage drinking. It is pretty much in most scenes.
As is the case when watching films that are ten or so years old, I spend the entire time wondering who each of the actors are. Mila Jovovich, Matthew McConaugheyand Ben Affleck are very obvious despite the latter two having shocking hairstyles. Surely they were never that bad back in the mid seventies? The less obvious are Rory Cochrane and Jason London. I think I realised where I'd recently seen Rory Cochrane in about the last ten minutes of the film. For those who don't know, he starred in CSI Miami for the first three seasons. I was closer with Jason London only it was his twin brother that I was thinking of as TS in Mallrats.
I suppose it is a more modern take on the American Graffiti theme with an updated soundtrack. Actually it is a great soundtrack, particularly if you are about the same age as me and were just developing an interest in music in the mid 70s.
Quotes
Well, all I'm saying is that I want to look back and say that I did I the best I could while I was stuck in this place. Had as much fun as I could while I was stuck in this place. Played as hard as I could while I was stuck in this place... Dogged as many girls as I could while I was stuck in this place.
Useless Information
